Great restaurants/shops that were kind enough to cater to my dietary needs!
A repeat visit to Trillium bakery in Ottawa for bread and cookies!
Milestones

Irish Tea Room in Niagara on the Lake had many gluten free things including desserts!

Stoneface Dolly's on Preston in Ottawa had great food and atmosphere and the chef was easily accessible for questions.
SilverSpoon thai in Ottawa also answered questions and delivered pretty good thai food!

eagle watching
Back in February my sister and I managed to find ourselves once again in Sheffield Mills, NS for the annual eagle watch. The raptors didn't disappoint. We had great views and great weather even though it was about -10C. Bald eagles and red tailed hawks galore!
We stayed at the In Wolfville bed and breakfast in Wolfville, NS. It was a beautiful house on beautiful grounds with resident pheasants and so many song birds even on the coldest of days. The inn's keepers were happy to provide us with lactose free and gluten free breakfasts! Delicious GF english muffins from a local bakery inspired me to begin making my own english muffins at home and have been ever since.
On a side note over the weekend we had dinner at Gypsy Tea Room here in St. John's. The staff was knowledgeable about gluten and I had a great meal :)
My next adventure takes me to Florida followed by a Caribbean cruise on the MS Celebrity Solstice. I've been advised they have wonderful gluten free bread onboard. We shall see how accomodating they are in other food respects....

perusing Ottawa...

My mini trip to Ottawa proved to be quite fun and full of food. A visit to La Dolce Vita once again proved to be great spot for gluten free pizza. I have yet to try out their gf pasta but the regular pasta dishes appear quite delicious.
Back to the beer... New Grist. I have concluded that I will not request this beer at the local liquor store. La Messagère appears to be similar and does not share the 5.7%!! alcohol content. My fiance figures I couldn't really tell what it tasted like with a high percentage like that...he might be right.
PS. We found a little bakery called Trillium Bakery ..that had yummy gf cookies and gingerbread :)! I will certainly visit it again on my return to Ottawa.
